Global Feast

Global-Feast-Final-Flier-aDigital Drama are delighted to have been commissioned for a second year by Global Arts Kingston to produce their programme for the Kinston Connections festival.

Global Feast is an oral history project which focuses on bringing to life the heritage of Kingston’s Tamil, Chinese, Korean, Gujarati, Punjabi and Afro-Caribbean communities through food. It will explore recipes, dishes and feasts brought to Kingston by members of these communities and their relatives and ancestors as they made Kingston their home and brought the flavours, tastes and smells of their homeland with them. It will provide opportunities for cultures from different communities to compare how recipes were handed down to them and explore the regional and family variations in their meals and feasts or celebrations. The theme of food will provide a focal point for the exploration of a much wider heritage around cultural identity.

Global Feast will be part of Kingston Connections, 21-29 June 2014 at The Rose Theatre and will also be featured on the Global Arts Kingston website.

Global Feast is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Awards for All

Stretching from the City of London to Avonmouth, the Bath Road is an ancient route connecting 130 miles of vibrant communities. Once the artery of the south, transferring news from London to the fashionable town of Bath and onto mercantile Bristol, the Bath Road has a rich heritage of people living, working and travelling along its trajectory.

Digital Drama is looking for artists, playwrights, animators, actors, filmmakers, poets and anyone with a passion for the past and how it plays a part in our present…to get involved!

An interactive map will represent the villages, towns and cities along the route.
