Heritage Volunteer Call Out Little Manhattan Project

Are you interested in Croydon’s architecture and urban environment?

Would you like to be part of a new heritage project in the borough?

If so…WE NEED YOU!

Digital Drama has been awarded a grant by the National Lottery Heritage Fund for Little Manhattan and we are currently recruiting volunteers in Croydon to help create this exciting heritage project.

Little Manhattan celebrates Croydon’s magnificent skyline and we are recruiting volunteers to help with various activities that will focus on the regeneration of the town’s urban environment in the postwar period between the 1950s and 70s. Supported by project partners Museum of Croydon, Library and Archive Services, Little Manhattan will develop an audio trail from the recordings and a short film using little-seen archive footage of the area which will tour the borough’s libraries.

Possible volunteer activities you can get involved in are:

  • Interviewing and recording older people who have memories of the regeneration of Croydon for an audio trail
  • Helping to run reminiscence sessions in local libraries in the borough
  • Assisting with family craft workshops to create the Croydon Skyline Installation to be displayed at the Museum of Croydon in 2024

What you will get as a volunteer:

  • Full training on how to interview for oral history recording and how to assist running reminiscence and family craft sessions
  • Travel expenses and refreshments
  • £50 supermarket voucher to thank you for volunteering
  • Invitation to all Little Manhattan events and celebrations through the year

If you would like to volunteer to help with any of these activities, and for more information about becoming a Little Manhattan Volunteer visit: www.digitaldrama.org/project/little-manhattan/.
