Tina Cox ‘The material is my shirt from work as a front line ambulance worker emergency services and reflects a life time’s work in the London Ambulance Service.’ Lorraine Reed : ‘I was born in 1955 so guess the bonnet may have been around only from then although my christening gown was a family heirloom I think the bonnet is made of modern fabric. The ribbon that was used was from around the middle of my Christening gown but again I don’t know if that was an addition as it was separate to the lacy gown.

My Mum used to make our clothes so it’s possible either she or my Nan made the bonnet, unfortunately I can’t ask anyone in the family as those that would know have all sadly passed on. All the women in my family have been very strong, independent women and my Nan was my absolute role model as well as being my friend, she taught all her girls to be strong, speak out and work for everything you want, my Mum passed this on and my sister and I are following in their footsteps!’
